Community Engagement Meeting – May 2024

May 21 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us on 21st May for an immersive dive into the crucial first 48 hours of technical response in managing the impact of cybersecurity incidents. Led by Marion Stewart from Red Helix, this event promises to unveil the intricate steps taken by incident response practitioners as they spring into action when the stakes are high.

Embark on a journey where every second counts, from the initial technical triage calls to drafting meticulous statements of work. Explore the art of initial containment and recovery planning, where decisions made in the heat of the moment can shape the outcome of an entire incident.

But that’s not all. Delve deeper into the indispensable role of threat intelligence in guiding response efforts and mitigating further risks. Learn firsthand about the nuances of evidence preservation requirements, a cornerstone of any effective incident response strategy.

Joining Marion Stewart on this enlightening exploration is Tim Geschwindt, an esteemed speaker from S-RM, who’ll be adding invaluable insights and diverse perspectives to the discussion. Together, they’ll unravel the complexities of technical response, offering practical strategies and expert advice to navigate even the most daunting of cyber crises.

Tim is Deputy Head of Incident Response for S-RM’s Cyber Incident Response team in Europe, and is responsible for leading responses to major incidents. He has tackled complex and challenging ransomware cases in mainland Europe over the last four years, including responses to significant incidents perpetrated by Lockbit, Hive, BlackCat, DarkSide and Conti. He joined S-RM’s Crisis Management and Intelligence practice in 2017 after studying a Masters in International Relations at the University of Cape Town, before joining the cyber security team in 2019. Tim is a certified forensic specialist, a lead negotiator in cyber extortion matters, and has experience leading complex recovery and restoration projects for large clients. Tim is based in S-RM’s Netherlands office in Utrecht.
